Meet Tyson
Tyson Hiatt is a seasoned Sales and Leadership Coach with over 25 years of experience in sales and sales management. His background is rooted in membership sales, with a strong focus on the political space. Tyson has hired, trained, and mentored sales professionals across the country, helping them unlock their potential and achieve their goals through accountability and consistent, high-impact sales activity.
Tyson holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication/Journalism with a minor in political science from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. Before beginning his career in sales, Tyson spent four years working as a newspaper reporter for a small daily paper in Southern Utah.
Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Tyson transitioned into sales as a representative for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)—the largest small business lobbying organization in the United States. In his first full year, he earned President’s Club and was one of only sixteen field sales reps nationwide to receive the Founders Award as a top new business producer. Just two years later, he became a certified trainer, training both new and veteran reps throughout the western United States.
In 2009, Tyson was promoted to Division Manager and took on the challenge of revitalizing a struggling team in Alabama. Under his leadership, the division rose from the bottom to become the #1 and later the #2 team nationally out of more than 30 divisions. For over a decade in Alabama, Tyson was responsible for hiring, training, and managing the sales force, as well as driving membership and revenue growth. During that time, he was promoted to Senior Division Manager, expanding his leadership role to include oversight of sales teams and managers across the Southeast.
In 2018, Tyson accepted a new opportunity to lead the state of California for NFIB, where he again earned President’s Club and ranked among the top five division managers nationwide. In 2020, Tyson returned to his home state of Utah and joined National Write Your Congressman, another organization in the political space. He continued his strong performance and earned President’s Club in 2022.
In April 2025, after nearly 25 years in sales and leadership, Tyson brought his extensive experience to Southwestern Consulting as a Sales & Leadership Coach. He is highly skilled in B2B one-call closing, consultative selling, sales recruiting, training, and coaching. His accolades include multiple President’s Club awards as both a sales rep and a manager, the Over-the-Top Award for Sales Management, and induction into NFIB’s Sales Hall of Fame.
Tyson also served his country honorably for over 10 years as a member of the US Army Reserves.
Tyson finds deep fulfillment in helping others change their lives by achieving their business and personal goals. He lives in American Fork, Utah with his wife, April. They recently purchased a new home and enjoy spending time outdoors, especially hiking. They share a weekly Facebook post called “Hiking with the Hiatt’s,” where they post photos and inspirational messages from their adventures.
Tyson is also an avid runner and has lost 65 pounds over the past two years as part of his ongoing health journey. He believes that in both sales and life, increased, intentional activity is often the solution to most problems.
